This is a captivating Tlingit woven plaque. The Tlingit’s remarkable weaving skills are on display in this unique woven plaque. The geometric patterns in the decorative bands are coarsely woven, but eye-catching. This would be a conversation piece. The plaque measures 9 inches in diameter.
This basket was purchased at auction in the 1980s-1990s and appears old. An appraiser has declared the basket to be Tlingit, but no authentication of age or origin is available.
Wear is apparent which would be expected for an older woven piece of art. It is in good-fair condition: there are two nail holes.
This is a unique piece which would look wonderful in the currently popular farmhouse style, a contemporary decor, or anywhere there is desire for warmth, smooth lines, texture, and an earthy element.
This plaque has been appraised at $150.
