This is supposed to be a pre-Columbian Vessel from Central or South America, but no authentication is available. The vessel is carved to depict an animal, possibly a monkey or jaguar playing a flute. It has the remains of paint of the teeth. There is an interesting coloration on top of head and along the body. It appears to be old.

The vessel was purchased at auction (sticker still attached), but no information is available.

Size: approximately 8” tall, and 8” in depth.

Condition: Good for age. Shows wearing expected for age of vessel. Some chipping on side of vessel wall (see photos).

  • Care and Use

This vintage piece of pottery is designed as art. As such, it should not be used to hold or carry water such as being used as a vase for flowers or as a pot to grow plants.

Do not clean with water or any solvents. To clean, dust lightly taking care not to scratch the surface. Use of water or liquid will ruin the design and patina of the pottery.
