This is a vintage stunner! Left Hand Kachina is a beautiful example of the carving, painting, and detail work by A. Tsinajinnie. This kachina is called "Left Hand" by the artist. It is hand-carved in wood (unknown type) using mixed media. The mask is highly detailed with feathers, black, white, and red paint. The kachina is holding a bow and arrow. The kachina has shell and leather wrist, and arm bands. The torso, both front and back, have leather and shell wraps. Note the beautifully detailed painting on the body. The feet have leather, fur, and leather-tied moccasins. White yarn is used to further enhance the appearance of the kachina. Dark spots on base are knots in the natural wood. The base is quite stable.
The kachina was purchased in the 1990s, has had one owner and has been on display in a nonsmoking home.
