Remarkable! This is a gorgeous bowl basket of unknown origin with striking traditional geometric designs. The basket has a “tulip” shape, where it is narrow at the base and significantly wider at the top. 
 
The basket was purchased at a Native American auction in the 1980s-1990s, but no authentication of age or origin is available. It appears to be old. The photo of the bottom of the basket shows the remains of what may have been an identifying label.
 
The basket measures almost 5 inches in height and 11 inches at its widest - at the top. This basket is in fair-poor condition showing lots of wear, dirt, and discoloration due to having been in a flood. Even with its wear and damage, its design and shape remain beautiful. The lighting for the pictures shows the basket pattern more clearly than in person. In person the basket is a bit darker. Despite the damage the basket is quite beautiful but has obvious damage to coloring, rim, grasses, and shape.
 
Nonetheless, this basket would look wonderful in the currently popular farmhouse style, a contemporary decor, or anywhere there is desire for warmth, smooth lines, texture, and an earthy element.
